Letter from the Chairman

March 3, 2008

The 2393 Board of Directors focused this past year on the restoration of the building as directed by the study conducted by Western Architecture Company. The entire past year was devoted to study the assessment completed, at the board’s request, by Western Architectural Co., to enlisting their assistance in identify priorities, specifications for bids, and then selecting a company to actual do the work. The board finally settled on the restoration of the South elevation, 16 decks surfaces and the painting of all of the railings. The entire budget of $241,000 was paid through a special assessment fee set by the board. Outside of this budget 10 homeowners volunteered to replace either windows, sliding doors or both following the primary completion of the construction project. After four months of being fenced in by scaffolding, the project that began in July was completed in October.

The completion of this project resulted in several changes to the building. First of all 16 deck surfaces were sealed and sliding doors caulked to keep water from entering unit. The brown colored brick surface and Marble Crete was changed to a Taupe color by applying four layers of new coating which included a moisture barrier and new paint applied to the ceilings and trim of the south elevation providing us with new and updated look for our neighborhood.

As already mentioned several owners changed out windows and sliding doors providing the finishing touches to our modern look.

The list of maintenance projects accomplished this past year are listed in the annual report and are the result of hard work led by our site manager Robin.

Finally, I would like to recognize the commitment and dedication of two Board members who are stepping down after two years: Jennifer Sims, Treasurer, and Branka Kelsey, Director. Their long hours of dedicated service and energy have truly made a difference.

I would also like to thank Kathy Wayne of IPM for her continued commitment to the 2393 community. Without her overseeing our restoration and answering the hundreds of questions from Board members and homeowners the work wouldn’t have been completed in a timely manner.

As a retiring Board member and Chair I would like to say “thank you” to all of the Board members for their outstanding work over the past year.

Best wishes for a very happy 2008
Syd Steinbock, Board Chair
